Date Tags theory

More and more, search engines have begun to incorporate social context into their search results. We’ve known for a while that Google isn’t the way people find content anymore. Audiences live on social, and it’s the primary source of new information. Still, the new era of search has taken a prominent role as a place where people are looking for solutions. You find solutions on Google every day, but it may have become such a part of your daily routine that you haven’t realize how easy it is. Increase visibility to new content you create by sharing it on social networks and building links to your content (both internally and from external sites). Don’t rely on the tips you read from unknown sources. If somebody discovers the secret to rank first on Google for competitive keywords, it’s very unlikely that they will share it with strangers.

Write with your audience’s questions in mind

Linking out is huge. Don't be a link hoard; you're going to create content, so use it to gain favor with other people. I'll go more into depth below with specific tactics on linking out, but in general, you only have something to gain when you’re linking out. Keywords are still a factor in content, but with the Hummingbird update in 2013, the way they are used, viewed, and searched has changed dramatically. Great content must start with specific intent (particularly, a very interesting topic). Integrate keywords, not only into the content itself, but also into the title, the meta description and even the canonical URL.

Make it possible for people to find your site via search engines

Information Architecture allows people and search engines to better understand the content structure on a site. It is important to note that search and offline behavior have a heavy degree of interaction, with search playing a growing role in driving offline sales. Google continues to say that high-quality content is important if you want to get high rankings. To better understand Google's idea of high-quality content, Google's guides for their own projects can help. Unsurprisingly, larger companies tend to outspend smaller firms when it comes to SEO.

85% of people searching on Google are clicking on the organic search results

Effective Search Engine Optimisation is a time consuming task which requires experience and specialist skills. Many web site providers claim to provide a search engine optimisation service however extremely few UK websites are currently well optimised if their aim is to achieve page 1 SERPS. Google’s mission is to organize the worlds’ information and make it universally accessible and useful. Therefore, Google wants to show a user the best result possible, the result that best fits their search query. HTTPS secures the connection to the website you are visiting. I’m sure you have seen this in action; look at the address bar in the browser and find the lock icon on the left-hand side. Is the lock closed? Then the connection is secure. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "At the heart of it, keyword clustering is what it sounds like: you are taking relevant keywords and clustering them together into groups."

Consider numbered lists and bullet lists to structure your content

SEO means Search Engine Optimization – and refers to the process of creating and modifying a website so that it gets more traffic from Google and other search engines. SEO used to be simple and you could just write your keyword over and over again, but has become more complex over the years. Page copy should be informative and of interest to you readers. Don’t write it just for the robots, write for the humans that will be visiting. Yes you need to include keywords here but only if they make sense. Once again, do not keyword stuff your copy, you’ll only get yourself penalised. After implementing any SEO technique, you need to monitor your efforts. Higher rankings lead to more clicks and visits from interested searchers, and that search traffic is uniquely valuable because of its high relevancy and timeliness -- people search when they’re interested or ready to perform an action.
